Frequently Asked Questions

Are the products you sell on this website new?
Yes, we only sell brand new products, sealed in the original factory box. We do not sell used or refurbished products.

Do you accept Returns or Exchanges?
We do not accept any returns or exchanges. However, if you receive a product that is Defective On Arrival (D.O.A.), please notify us within 7 calendar days, and we will issue you a Return Merchandise Authorization (R.M.A.) number. Upon our receipt of the product, we will repair it, or if it cannot be repaired, we will provide you with an identical brand new item on exchange.
Storefront: Our storefront is closed indefinitely. Orders can be placed online only. No local will-call nor local delivery is available. We apologize for this inconvenience.
How quickly will I get my order?
Most items ship within one business day. So if you place your order on Monday, it will ship on Monday or Tuesday. If you place your order on Friday, it will ship on Friday or Monday. Please allow 1-5 business days for delivery after the shipment date, depending on your location and the shipping service selected. Make sure to check your email for our Shipment Notification email which includes your tracking number. If you do not receive this email in your inbox within 2 business days of your order date, please check your SPAM folder to see if it is there. If not, please contact us so we can update you on your order status.

When I enter my credit card, I get an error message. What should I do?
Very frequently the error message you are receiving is due to one of the following reasons:
(1) The billing address you have entered on our website does not match the billing address of the credit card you used. The actual billing address for the credit card is required by our credit card processor to ensure the safety of our customers transactions. This helps avoid someone using your credit card who does not have knowledge of your billing address. In order to process your credit card, please edit your billing information on our website to match that of your credit card.
(2) The AVS Code does not match. Make sure the AVS code you enter is the last 3 digits above the signature box on the BACK of the credit card for Visa and Mastercard transactions, or the 4 digit code found above your account number on the FRONT of the card for American Express transactions.
(3) Your credit card company is not allowing the charge to be processed. Please contact your credit card company and ask them to allow the charge, or try using a different credit card for your order.
If the problems persist, please contact us for additional help.

Are products covered by the manufacturers warranty?
Absolutely, yes. Rest assured that you will receive a brand new product with a full manufacturers warranty. Keep in mind that not all products have a manufacturer's warranty, such as parts and supplies. Generally only machines are accompanied with a manufacturers warranty.
What will I receive with my product?
Business machines (typewriters, calculators, cash registers, etc.) normally include the User Manual, Warranty Card, and starter supplies (typewriter ribbon and correction tape, one roll of paper, etc.)

We have a used machine. Will you buy it from us?
No. We do not buy nor sell used or refurbished machines. Try selling it on Ebay or Craigslist for best results.
What is the value of our used machine?
We don't know. Check Ebay or Craigslist for comparible items. As stated previously, we do not deal in used or refurbished machines.
Can you send us an invoice for our order?
When you place your order, a receipt will be sent to the email address you provide to us. This may be used as your invoice. We may honor requests for customized invoices with advance notice.
Are you registered as a Small Business?
Yes! Granada Hills Business Machines is a registered Small Business / Micro Business with the State of California, certification #41391, and registered in the Small Business Enterprise Preference Program in the Los Angeles County vendor database, Local SBE vendor #13035401. We welcome all Federal Government / State/ County inquiries.
Do you accept Purchase Orders?
Sorry, we do not accept Purchase Orders. 
Payment: We welcome Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and verified Paypal accounts. Paypal orders are charged at the time of order. We do NOT charge Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover payment methods when you place an order, rather, we place an authorization hold only. Once we verify your order can be shipped from our facility and/or from one of our trusted suppliers, we proceed to charge your payment method for the amount of your order and begin the processing of your shipment.
Order cancellations by us: In the event your payment method has discrepancies or is unable to be verified, or if your shipping address and/or telephone number and/or email address cannot be confirmed, or if your order is addressed to an inmate or prison (excluding orders by and directly to prison staff), or for item discrepancies such as mismatched items or unusual orders, your authorization will be voided and your order cancelled. We will send a communication to the email address provided informing you of the order cancellation. To avoid such a cancellation, please be sure to use an accurate billing address that matches that shown on your credit card statement, an accurate shipping address that can be verified, an email address that you check frequently and preferably one belonging to a verifiable entity such as a business email address with a verifiable website, and an accurate phone number where you can be reached. If using Paypal, please make sure your account has been confirmed and verified with Paypal prior to placing your order. In the event you are ordering mismatched items (such as supplies for different machines) or a typewriter printwheel designated "PS", please write a note in the special notes section of the checkout screen describing the machines you are purchasing the items for. In the event that your item(s) cannot be shipped due to other issues such as inaccurate inventory, discontinued items, shipping closures, or other fulfillment issues, we will contact you at the email/phone number you provide to us on your order to discuss alternatives, such as a compatible item or releasing the authorization hold (thus never charging your order.) Please make sure to check your emails after you place your order and reply to any inquiries, and to check and reply to any voice mails we may leave you. If we cannot reach you within 24 hours, we will automatically release the authorization and cancel your order.

Where do you ship?
We currently ship orders to the United States only, including Hawaii, Alaska, and U.S owned territories. Shipments terms are FOB Origin to all addresses. Sorry, we no longer offer international shipping.
International Shipping - How does it work?
Many international customers order products from our website and have them shipped to a United States address provided by a U.S. based shipping service. Our normal shipping rates apply to these transactions, since they are being shipped to a U.S. address. Please be aware that once our shipment has reached it's U.S. destination, we assume no liability if that provider fails to forward the package to you, or should damage occur to the package after it is received by them. Therefore, we urge caution before using one of those services. Also, please ensure that any items you order for shipment through one of these services will work in the country you will receive the product in, as we do not accept any returns. For example, any products that we sell that use electricity are rated 120V 60Hz Type B plug for use in the United States. If you decide to use a transformer to use one of these products, it may not work and may cause damage to the machine. Therefore, if you have a different type of electricity in your country, we strongly advise you not to purchase electrical products from us.
Will you ship directly to an inmate at a prison?
No. All orders addressed to inmates and/or prisons (excluding orders by and directly to prison staff) will be cancelled. Due to the high number of refused, lost, and damaged shipments, we no longer ship directly to inmates in prisons. You may order a typewriter (or other product) from us and have it shipped to your personal address, and then you can send it to the prison yourself. However, please note that many typewriters have memory with the ability to save files and text. Most prisons restrict the use of typewriters with memory completely, some do not allow prisoners to have more than 7K of memory, and only a few will allow higher amounts of memory. Some prisons specify which typewriter models are allowable in their institution, and some specify where they must be purchased. Please confirm with the prison that they will allow your inmate to receive the typwriter you desire prior to placing your order. Most prisons publish guidelines specifying the allowable items and their requirements, so please try to obtain this prior to placing your order. We do not accept returns, so if you do not get prior approval from the prison and they do not allow the typewriter (or other product), you will not be able to return or exchange the item(s)to us.
How much will shipping cost?
Shipping for all orders over $100.00 is currently FREE to the continental United States only, FOB Origin. Please make sure you choose "Free Shipping" during the checkout process. This is a limited time offer that may expire at any time. Shipping for all orders under $100.00 is currently a flat rate of $7.99 to the continental United States only, FOB Origin. Please make sure you choose "$7.99 Flat Rate Shipping" during the checkout process. Shipping costs for all orders to Hawaii, Alaska, and U.S. owned territories will be calculated by the Real Time shipping calculator incorporated in our website and shipments are sent FOB Origin. You will need to place the item in your cart in order to see these shipping charges. We do not ship outside of the United States.

Shipping costs for all orders to Hawaii, Alaska, and U.S. owned territories are calculated by the Real Time shipping calculator incorporated in our website and shipments are sent FOB Origin. You will need to place the item in your cart in order to see these shipping charges. However, oftentimes our website shipping calculator is not accurate and we may be able to ship your order for less than what is stated. For accurate shipping quotes, please contact us at [email protected] and let us know the items and quantities you would like to order. We will get back to you with the actual shipping charges and instructions for how to place your order with the lower shipping price.

What kind of shipping do I get with the "Free Shipping" and the "$7.99 Flat Rate" options?
Most "Free Shipping" and "$7.99 Flat Rate Shipping" orders are sent via USPS First Class Mail. USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground Service are employed as weight limits/suppliers deem necessary.
Why do I have to pay shipping?
Unlike Amazon or other large retailers, we do not own our own delivery service as we are a small business that actually has to pay the full shipping costs for each order, which are often much higher than the $7.99 that we pass on to our customers. We hope you understand.

Can I request you ship my products via DHL, Fedex or another carrier?
Because of limitations within our website, we currently do not offer alternate shipping methods on our checkout pages. However, if you have a specific need, please email us and we will try our best to accommodate you.
Can you ship to my P.O. Box address?
Sometimes. Items we carry can be shipped to your PO box. Items from our suppliers only ship via UPS Ground, so we need a physical street address for those items. If you have specific needs, please email us and we will try our best to accommodate you and advise you which items that you need can be shipped to your PO box. Please be advised that we will also need your physical address for our records.
Can you send my product via expedited shipping?
We no longer offer expedited shipping via any carrier. This is due to the large amount of fraudulent orders using stolen credit cards that request expedited shipping. If you need your order faster than standard ground service offers, call us at (818) 366-6864 so we can verify your order is not fraudulent, and then advise you what expedited options are available and what the additional cost will be.
